Forward Advantage Announces Partnership with Capsule to Provide Medical Device Integration for MEDITECH Facilities

Fresno, CA - Forward Advantage, a leading provider of third-party technology solutions for MEDITECH facilities, and Capsule, the leading provider of medical device integration, announced today that the two companies have partnered to bring connectivity solutions to the MEDITECH market under Forward Advantage’s medical device integration initiative. The initiative, developed to meet the growing demand for medical device interoperability, brings together Capsule’s DataCaptor™ solution and Forward Advantage’s integration expertise and services. Together, the two companies will provide MEDITECH hospitals with a proven, integrated and supported solution.

“Implementing MEDITECH’s Advanced Clinical Systems drives clinical excellence for MEDITECH facilities by providing timely clinical data to care providers. Medical device integration is a valuable addition, as it improves the timeliness of patient vital sign collection for clinician review, while also increasing staff productivity by automating the process,” says Darla Rigg, vice president of product management for Forward Advantage. “And automation provides the added benefit of reducing medical errors that can occur when this data is entered manually.”

Forward Advantage is uniquely qualified to provide a MEDITECH integrated solution. Building on over a decade of experience working with MEDITECH customers, Forward Advantage has worked directly with MEDITECH to integrate a wide range of healthcare technologies, including MEDITECH HL7 integration with ambulatory EMRs, MEDITECH’s Bed Board, automated report and information delivery, and identity and access management solutions. Their MEDITECH-focused medical device integration initiative is a natural progression, and builds on their expertise in delivering market-leading solutions that interoperate with MEDITECH.

Capsule, founded in 1997, specializes in medical device connectivity and is recognized as a leading provider with interfaces for over 370 critical care devices such as patient monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and anesthesia machines. “What we bring to the MEDITECH facility is the ability to leverage their existing investment and begin integrating medical device data into their EMR. This integration will deliver workflow automation that allows the clinician to increase productivity and efficiency and ultimately benefit patient care,” says Arnaud Houette, CEO for Capsule. “We are very excited about this opportunity to partner with Forward Advantage, a company that is experienced and proficient at integrating MEDITECH solutions. This partnership will allow us to build on one another’s strengths and successfully execute our solution for MEDITECH facilities.”

“We are very pleased to offer this solution to MEDITECH facilities,” says Chris Roggenstein, president and CEO of Forward Advantage. “Capsule is recognized as the leader in medical device integration, with the largest interface library in the market, and successful deployments at several hundred healthcare facilities. By combining Capsule’s technology with Forward Advantage services and MEDITECH’s integration expertise, we are confident that MEDITECH customers are getting a solution unmatched in the industry.”
